We already know that Apple will equip all of this year’s iphone 12 and iphone 12 pro releases with an OLED screen, but we might have just been treated to our first look at one.
Courtesy of anonymous Twitter leaker Mr. White, the image shows an OLED screen that’s presumably waiting to be installed on an iphone 12 or iphone 12 Pro.
While this could otherwise be an iphone 11 screen, that isn’t the case. The display connect is in a different place to those that we’ve become accustomed to, for starters. That would potentially suggest that the logic board is different this year, with the connector being in a different place at the very least.
We’ve previously heard rumors that a logic board change was in the offing because of changes to other aspects of the device. That would, obviously, then indicate the screen’s connector would need to step accordingly.
It’s tough to tell what size this screen is thanks to the lack of any scale, but it does look like the notch is around the same size as the current models, which is a shame. Still, it maybe shouldn’t be all that surprising.
As for the leaker themselves, they do have a fairly good history with these kinds of things and also recently showed what was claimed to be Apple’s new A14 processor. It’s worth noting that the tweet sharing the image has now been deleted, though.
