as well as filling the numerous shortcomings of Apple’s iOS, Cydia, and the jailbreak community, offer quite a few helpful tweaks which, despite not necessarily being needed, wind up being great little additions nonetheless. Today’s tweak certainly falls under this category, and although when I first installed it, I had very little optimism, it’s one I’ve very rapidly become accustomed to.
Named InfoPage, it allows you to add a little bit of extra information on your home screen, just below the status bar. as well as a customized note, such as “My iPhone,” you can show totally free RAM, IP address, page number, or the date. rather than overlapping your icons, it pushes them all down, thus making it look much more like a native feature – as with all good tweaks.
If the status bar were your device’s heading, the line of text provided by InfoPage could be seen as the sub-heading, and because I’ve already managed to squeeze the date into my iPhone’s status bar (thanks, in no small part, to Springtomize 2), I’m using InfoPage to keep me in the loop with how much totally free RAM my device has.
There’s no icon for InfoPage, because all changes are made within the settings app. It’s a simple, well polished tweak as it is, but I would certainly like to see much more options in future. System information would certainly be a good one, and although this can be typed in manually, it’s always good when things work without the need for user intervention. Also, it would be good if it provided alternative text and colors / transparency, so as to suit certain setups and themes a lot better.
Of course, in purchase to get started with InfoPage, you will need a jailbroken iOS device. Then, simply open Cydia, scroll through to the ModMyi repository (should be in your list of sources by default), and scroll down to InfoPage.
It’s absolutely totally free of charge, and whilst it’s by no implies an absolute necessity, it adds a good finishing touch to any home screen.
