Apple reportedly intends to launch a refreshed iPad pro as soon as the first half of 2021 and it’s going to have plenty to capture the intention. reliable leaker L0vetodream has said that the new iPad pro will have a much more powerful chip, new min-LED screen, and 5G connectivity.
The new chip isn’t a huge surprise because it’s said to be the Apple A14X, a tweaked version of the A14 that will likely be part of the iphone 12 launch later this year.
It’s a process that Apple has followed before with the A12X that powered the previous generation iPad Pro.
The inclusion of a new mini-LED display is much more interesting, with this likely to be the first time Apple has used the technology. It provides similar benefits to OLED – improved power usage, dense blacks, and much more – without the downsides like the potential for screen burn in. It’s a technology that’s been rumored for months and it’s now thought that the iPad pro will be the first device to get it.
In terms of 5G connectivity, the report claims the new iPad pro will feature a Qualcomm X55 modem complete with support for both mmWave and sub-6GHz. That’s a combination of very fast 5G in the form of mmWave as well as support for the much more available sub-6GHz.
L0vetodream claims we can expect the iPad pro to come in two screen sizes as normal, with a launch within the first half of 2021.
