Apple has today announced an updated Apple TV 4K streaming box with a new CPU, more storage, and importantly, a price drop.
The updated Apple TV 4K maintains the same name and form factor, but adds an Apple A15 Bionic chip for faster gaming and load times.
There is also a change in the storage options as well — the base WiFi model comes with 64GB of storage, while those who upgrade to the model that comes with an Ethernet port also get to benefit from double the storage, too.
Apple says that the new model adds support for HDR10+, joining Dolby Vision as a second standard for HDR content when streamed via compatible apps and when watching content built for it. HDR10+ should ensure more vibrant colors and even better dark areas within images, but you’ll need a TV that takes full advantage to really notice the improvements.
Other changes include a Siri Remote that now uses USB-C as its method of connectivity, ditching Lightning ahead of a similar move we expect from the iphone next year.
Most notable is the new price. The Apple TV 4K with Siri Remote is available for pre-order now starting at $129, with availability beginning on Friday, November 4.
All you need to do is decide whether you need 128GB of storage and want to get your hands on that Ethernet port.
